Overview
Wander through the rice fields in the ancient village of Bedulu just 10 minutes by vehicle from the famous tourist area of Ubud . You will trek through the fields and learn about the life cycle of the rice paddies- from the planting to harvesting. You will also pass many local temples, and depending on the time of year, have a chance to meet village farmers. Our Rice Paddy Trek is an informative and fun activity for travelers of all ages.

Program Details
The morning trek will start around 9.30am, and THE afternoon trek will start around 3.00pm. Our driver will pick you up at your hotel (pick up time will be arranged depending on the location of your hotel) and will take you to the ancient village of Bedulu. Upon reaching the starting point of the trek, our professional guide will welcome you with refreshing welcome drink as they he/she gives a briefing on the trekking route.

First you will visit Yeh Pulu relief, the longest relief in Bali from 11th century. Then during the 2.5 hour walk you will pass through vast rice fields and other typical village features such as cow stables, tropical tree plantations, Petanu river with traditional sand stone mine, small temple for Goddess Sri (the Rice Field Goddess), a bathing place for local people. Depending on the time of year, you will see farmers planting, harvesting or taking care of the fields. You'll see the famous traditional organization of 'subak', the hand-dug irrigation systems.

Throughout the trek, you'll get glimpses of traditional villager lifestyles as you pass by villages and meet locals. The fresh air and tranquil surroundings provide a great backdrop for this half day excursion.
Your trek ends at Goa Gajah temple, the 11th century Hindu and Buddhist heritage temple with its famous T-shaped cave 10 meters deep, holy bathing place and Buddhist temple complex. Lunch will be served afterward. After lunch you will be transferred back to your hotel.


Note: We recommend wearing sportswear and sturdy shoes. Insect repellent, hat and sunscreen are also highly recommended.
